As part of International Disability Awareness Week, Middle School students at 香港六合彩开奖结果2023 came together for a powerful and inspiring Disability Awareness Celebration on December 4th. Over 320 students enthusiastically participated in the event, which aimed to foster empathy, understanding, and inclusivity. Through engaging activities, thought-provoking discussions, and the presence of inspiring guest speakers, students deepened their understanding of the challenges and triumphs of individuals with disabilities.

The day’s agenda featured immersive activities that left a lasting impression. Students experienced three Paralympic sports — Sitting Volleyball, Boccia, and Goalball — under the guidance of distinguished coaches and athletes from the Hellenic Sports Federation for People with Disabilities. Among the experts present were Ms. Orfanou, Mr. Tourkochoritis, Mr. Giannoulakis, Mr. Christodoulou, Mr. Gialourakis, and Mr. Nikopoulos, whose expertise brought these experiences to life.

A standout moment was the engaging session with Mr. Tourkochoritis, a promising young Track and Field para-athlete. By sharing his inspiring journey, Mr. Tourkochoritis provided students with a rare and honest glimpse into his personal achievements, challenges, and daily realities. His story was both motivating and reflective, leaving a profound impact on all who heard it.

Equally unforgettable was the session with Liberty Guide Dogs, a non-profit organization founded by Giannis Kondraros, which trains guide dogs for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Representatives from Liberty Guide Dogs — including Ms. Glover, Ms. Trachili, Ms. Grammatikopoulou, Mr. Aslanidis, and Mr. Ntottas — introduced students to their highly trained service dogs: Athina, Gas, Allou, Zen, and Dream. During a powerful simulation, students navigated a blindfolded obstacle course using a white cane or a guide dog’s assistance. This activity fostered empathy and deep respect for the challenges faced by visually impaired individuals.

The celebration was preceded by meaningful classroom discussions during B.A.S.E. classes, where students explored essential questions such as, “What does accessibility mean in our daily lives?” These reflections ensured that students approached the day with an informed, thoughtful perspective.

The Disability Awareness Celebration underscores 香港六合彩开奖结果2023’ ongoing mission to nurture empathy, respect, and inclusion. Looking ahead, Middle School students will embark on service-learning trips to local foundations, including Hatzipaterion, Margarita, Sikiarideon, and To Perivolaki. These organizations support children, young adults, and adults with mental disabilities. Through these experiences, students will continue to build meaningful connections, reinforcing the values of understanding and compassion cultivated throughout Disability Awareness Week.

This initiative reflects 香港六合彩开奖结果2023’ unwavering commitment to developing compassionate, informed members of the global community. Events like these inspire students to embrace diversity and actively contribute to creating a more inclusive future.

The success of this event was made possible through the exceptional leadership of Ms. Athanasia Kotsiani (Physical Education Faculty), with invaluable support from Mr. Stelios Kalogridakis (Middle School Counselor) and the entire Middle School team. Special gratitude is extended to Vikos Water for their generous support, which significantly contributed to the event’s success.

Together, the Middle School community at 香港六合彩开奖结果2023 is making impactful strides toward a world without barriers!
