Parmaki, Georgia, Faculty, 2nd Grade

Georgia Parmaki is a passionate and highly skilled educator with years of experience in elementary education. Her teaching journey spans Grades 1 through 4 in New Jersey and  Greece, along with decades in Pre-K and Kindergarten. She gained early experience working at The Meadowlands Y during college and completed her student teaching in New  York City, focusing on Grades 2 through 4.  

Ms. Parmaki holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Rutgers University and a Master of  Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Columbia University Teachers College. She is licensed to teach JK-8 in New Jersey and EFL in Greece.  

She was born in Melbourne, Australia and grew up in the USA to Greek parents. 

She is committed to lifelong learning, engaging in professional development on play-based teaching, inclusivity, brain breaks, and experiential methods at institutions such as Bank  Street College. Her training with the Readers and Writer’s Project in NYC sharpened her focus on literacy.  

As a founding teacher at a New Jersey charter school, Ms. Parmaki championed inclusive,  student-centered approaches. Ms. Parmaki’s Masters Project culminated in curricula on the topic of Immigration with extensive research of Ellis Island with a science and social studies approach for grades 2 through 4. She uses the skills attained during this period to engage students to make connections across subjects, from math to science to social studies. In previous roles, she has implemented creative programs such as a Kitchen  Chemistry Club, where students explored scientific concepts through fun, interactive experiments and aided in the production of an Everyday Math lab at a public school setting in New Jersey.  

In her new role at ACS, Ms. Parmaki looks forward to cultivating a dynamic space where curiosity, collaboration, and creativity flourish. Above all, Ms. Parmaki aims to empower her students to grow into thoughtful, confident, skilled, and resilient learners who are ready to make meaningful contributions to their communities.
